Cianna’s Smile was founded by the charity chair person Hayley King and was registered as a charity in May 2017. After Hayley’s daughter Cianna (who has Sickle Cell Anaemia) experienced a traumatic admission at their local hospital, Hayley felt that there was a lack of awareness of the condition in the medical profession and no support locally for families impacted by it.
At Cianna's Smile, our mission is to improve the lives of children, young people, and families impacted by Sickle Cell conditions. We are dedicated to raising awareness, providing support, and advocating for better healthcare and social understanding of this life-altering condition. Through education, empowerment, and community engagement, we strive to reduce the stigma associated with Sickle Cell and ensure that those living with the condition have the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.
We believe in the power of community, the importance of representation, and the strength of a collective voice. Our initiatives focus on health education, mental well-being, and creative expression, offering a safe and inclusive space for individuals impacted by Sickle Cell to share their experiences and connect with others. We are committed to driving positive change in society, advocating for improved services, and inspiring future generations to be changemakers in the fight against the inequalities experienced by those impacted by Sickle Cell.
Together, we aim to create a world where no one is defined by their condition, but rather empowered to live their fullest and most vibrant lives.
Our projects aim to increase support for those impacted by Sickle Cell conditions. We want to continue to raise awareness of Sickle Cell in order to reduce social isolation and improve the quality of life for those impacted within our community.
Honest
We are transparent about how and where we spend donations and will always continue to do so.
Inclusive
We believe that everyone should be treated equally and that there is no place for discrimination anywhere.
Ambitious
We know that 110 years after Sickle Cell was discovered there still has not been much progression with awareness and treatment. However, we are determined to help make a change for those who need it most.
Kind
Kindness is key to making someone’s day that much better. We believe that we should always be kind to one another, and this underpins everything that we do.
Unified
We believe that united we are stronger. We pride ourselves by actively working alongside many other Sickle Cell organisations to help and support as many people as we can.
